While most traditional Velcro closures just pull together two sides of the shoe's upper, in the Powerstrap configuration a ribbon wraps around the foot, providing secure containment using just two straps. From here they added their unique rollBar, which mimics a race car’s anti-sway bar by using the bib straps to stabilize the insert as your weight transfers from left to right while cornering. The bib straps have also been redesigned using calibrated stretch throughout, with the rear section using a single section of elastic material—folded over on itself—forming an A-frame in the back. It delivers limited vertical stretch in order to add further stability. In the front, the straps are made of a more flexible material, with an antibacterial carbon weave, to wick moisture and lay flat. Assos also focused on a single insert platform, which allowed the freedom to reassess what is most crucial to a streamlined, race-spec insert. They reduced the overall footprint to shed additional weight, employed superAir microShock foam with 3D waffle, incorporated the kraterCooler system to increase airflow up front, and took additional measures to anchor the insert at the rear with a patented horizontal stabilizer. A dedicated all-mountain winter riding pant that combines winterproof fabrics, function-driven details, and trail-tuned fit to keep you performing at your optimum in harsh, cold riding conditions. Until now there was little chance of finding an off-road riding pant that promised a warm, dry lower half and promoted a full range of motion during the toughest months of the year. We changed that. We borrowed a few design elements from our Cargo Shorts, like the smooth-wrap waist design for a comfortable fit that's free of clunky fasteners. On this version we made it slightly taller and added a silicone gripper at the rear to keep the pants securely in place. The pants are trim and fitted with a tapered hem—but loose enough to provide a full range of motion. We finished them off with two zippered thigh pockets, abrasion-resistant paneling at the hem, and a water-repellent treatment throughout. Our flexible RX EVO+ makes up the majority of the paneling. Its brushed warp-knit features an asymmetrical stretch, adds high levels of insulation, and offers fleecy comfort against the skin. Added to the saddle area and inner leg panels along the hem, we applied our membrane-backed NEOS MILD, ensuring water, mud, wheel spray, and cold air is properly deflected. The pants' trailFit follows the body's natural motions in, and out, of the saddle —trim, but never restrictive. Their AZPtech (abdomZeroPressure) waist construction, takes that concept even further with a soft, highly elastic material to further improve comfort and hold at the waist, minus any pressure or pinching.

This compacted PVC is then coupled to two fabrics (knitted fabric and felt) that is then film dyed for long-lasting color retention. Politex offers strong resistance to rips, lacerations, stretching and fading. Politex is made in strict compliance with European regulations and is considered a "green” product. The Millennium 4 Carbon Composite Sole is injected molded carbon fiber in a matrix of nylon that creates a significantly lighter and stiffer sole that is less susceptible to changes because of aging or prolonged usage. The Soft Instep 3 Closure System is a wide, anatomically curved strap combined with a soft, thermo-formed EVA pad that distributes pressure evenly over the instep area. The Soft Instep Closure System is adjustable from both sides, to perfectly center the EVA pad over a high or low instep. The system eliminates the need for the High Instep Extender. The Soft Instep Closure System is replaceable. Sidi's Techno-3 System dials in fit along the entire length of the shoe, adapting the upper to the shape of the foot for a customized fit. Sidi's famously reliable and replaceable closures are improved by an all-new proprietary Sidi Wire material that is completely non-binding for intuitive and effortless on-the-fly adjustments. These shorts are built for cyclists committed to the racing and training program, regardless of falling temperatures. BEHIND THE PRODUCT These bib shorts are appropriate for cooler temperatures that don’t yet warrant knee or full-leg coverage. The thermal insulation is reinforced with inclusions (the twinDeck construction on the crotch panel) and omissions (we left out the kraterCooler chamois ventilation in that same panel) designed to preserve core warmth without providing too much coverage. The balance of warmth and breathability recommend these shorts for tempo efforts and base miles in cool temperatures, and the addition of warmers—secured with the shorts’ Ultralight Leg Grippers—lets them follow the mercury still further down the thermometer.

With the 160-gram Equipe RSR Bib Shorts S9, Assos started from scratch and re-engineered the platform as a whole—and came away with the lightest, most comfortable race-spec bib shorts to ever leave their laboratory. These bibs are made with Type 701kompressor material that delivers the perfect combination of compressive hold, durability, soft hand-feel, and the lowest weight possible. In other words, the material becomes your second skin, delivering phenomenal structural hold, breathability, and a silky smooth, uninterrupted wrap along the low back and thighs. Assos' new bracing system works together to stabilize the shorts and secure the insert in place. The S9 generation incorporates just two panels, with a primary “butterfly” panel fully wrapping the legs and converging in the rear to form the ergoBox structure. This design effectively frames the insert in place and provides you with an ultra-comfortable wrap that works in conjunction with Type 701 material for the best fit ever produced. The bib straps have also been redesigned using calibrated stretch throughout, with the rear section using a single section of elastic material—folded over on itself—forming an A-frame in the back. It delivers limited vertical stretch in order to add further stability. In the front, the straps are made of a more flexible material, with an antibacterial carbon weave, to lay flat and wick moisture. Assos also focused on a single insert platform, which allowed the freedom to reassess what is most crucial to a streamlined, race-spec insert. They reduced the overall footprint to shed additional weight, employed superAir microShock foam with 3D waffle, incorporated the kraterCooler system to increase airflow up front, and took additional measures to anchor the insert at the rear with a patented horizontal stabilizer.
